API GH/KH Hardness Test Kit

Monitor General & Carbonate Hardness for a Healthy Aquarium

Even in the shop, we find that there are times our pH is constantly going up and down, unable to remain stable. This is when we start testing for KH. We highly recommend testing for this regularly (especially if you have an aquarium) and browse our alkalinity products, which we can always help with our recommendations.

API GH/KH Test Kit allows you to measure and maintain the general hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH) of your aquarium water. Matching the natural habitat of your fish and plants helps prevent stress, supports healthy growth, and ensures stable pH levels for a thriving aquatic environment.

How It Works

  • Measures GH: Detects dissolved calcium and magnesium minerals, crucial for fish osmoregulation and plant development.
  • Measures KH: Indicates buffering capacity, helping maintain a stable pH and preventing sudden drops that can stress aquatic life.
  • Simple drop-based test: Add drops until the colour change specified in the instructions occurs. Count the drops to determine your GH and KH levels.
  • Helps hobbyists replicate natural water conditions for fish and plants, promoting a healthy aquarium environment.

Directions for Use

  • Fill the provided test bottle with the specified amount of aquarium water.
  • Add the test reagent drop by drop as instructed until the indicated colour change occurs.
  • Count the number of drops added to determine GH and KH levels based on the instructions.
  • Adjust water hardness if necessary using appropriate products (e.g., crushed coral or calcium carbonate).
