Nitrate Guidance

• Source: Nitrates are produced from nitrite oxidation during the nitrogen cycle and can accumulate from decaying plants, fish waste, overfeeding, and tap water.
• Safe Levels: Keep nitrate levels below 50 ppm in freshwater, ideally under 25 ppm. For breeding fish or algae control, aim for below 10 ppm.
• Reduction Tips: Maintain a clean aquarium, avoid overfeeding, perform regular water changes with nitrate-free water, and consider live plants or nitrate-lowering media.
