Aquatic plants draw nutrients from the water column as well as the soil in which the plants sit. However after time, the nutrients in the soil get depleted and fertiliser for water plants is generally needed to keep your plants staying green, vibrant, and flowering.
In warmer months be sure to increase the amount of fertiliser available to your plants. As the temperature increases the metabolism of your plants increases and requires more nutrients.
Fertilisers can either be added directly into to the water column or in the form of root tabs. Root tabs are generally buried into the soil and slowly release nutrients over a few months.
