All hoses are black so as to discourage the growth of algae on the internal surface. Internal algae can lead to blockages and frictional loss of water flow. Black colouration also aids in concealing any algal growth on the external surface of the hose.

Our black pond hose is corrugated on the outside so that they do not kink on tight corners. And they are smooth on the inside so as to minimise frictional loss. Flexible hose is often preferable over hard PVC plumbing as it eliminates the need for elbows and sharp corners. Both of which will impede the flow of water. Flexible hose allows your pump to work at optimal capacity and prevents the need to oversize it in order to account for the flow rate lost.
