This air pump is perfect for medium to large fish ponds or multiple aquarium systems. What sets it apart from other air pumps is a battery backup feature, which allows it to power your pond during emergencies such as blackouts.
This is an awesome air pump perfect for medium – to large-sized fish ponds, or for those running multiple fish tanks in a system.
This air pump will run plugged into a standard 240V electrical outlet, but what sets it apart from other pumps is that, when not given access to power, e.g while in a power outage, the pump will automatically switch to a battery backup, allowing it to run for up to another 9 hours completely unpowered.
Here at the shop, we tend to see a lot of panicked customers during power outages, worried about the health of their fish. We also see a lot of customers losing fish in such events, particularly during the warmer months. This is because fish require oxygen in the water to survive. generally, pumps and filters circulating the water provide enough oxygenation to remain within healthy levels; however, if these pumps and filters suddenly switch off, the water is allowed to stagnate – oxygen is lost, and fish begin to die. Having an air pump providing oxygen during these periods can be a true lifesaver and should be considered crucial on ponds with expensive or valuable fish.
Ponds that receive a lot of sunlight, or are heavily stocked, will generally require a greater amount of oxygenation and should have an air pump running 24/7. Air pumps provide only positive benefits for fish, and we strongly believe you can never have enough! There is a reason koi and fish farms rely on air pumps so heavily.
Included in the box with this unit you will receive:
You will need to purchase your airline tubing and air stones separately. We recommend THESE air stones. You can purchase airline tubing by the meter HERE or by the roll HERE
Like all rechargeable appliances, it is best practice to allow the battery to fully discharge every week or so. This keeps it in good shape so that, when emergency hits, it is able to perform. You can do this by switching off the power supply to the pump for 8 or so hours every week. We recommend using a timer to do this so that everything stays running smoothly with no need for interference.
Like all air pump,s this unit should ideally be sheltered from rain and water. all airpumps are designed to sit outside of the pond in a sheltered area, DO NOT submerge the main unit.
